Please join OLA, SEPA Mujer, and many other East End organizations for a fun, lively, and "noisy" census caravan, that is, a procession of cars traveling from Southampton (on the South Fork) and Greenport (on the North Fork) to the county center in Riverside, proclaiming the importance of the census through flags, posters, horns, etc. (We'd hoped to start in Springs, but concerns about traffic and getting to Riverside on time prompted the caravan coalition to start further west.)
The caravans will start at 9:30 and will culminate in a press conference and rally in Riverside at 11 a.m. where town officials from the North Fork and South Fork will speak about the importance of the census, along with local activists and advocacy organizations. We expect that County Executive Steve Bellone will be joining us, and we have invited other East End elected officials as well.
Please see attached fliers in English and Spanish for details of time and place, and please circulate WIDELY to your staff and volunteers, and on social media!!!
